This one's just for letting people know what I'm up to whilst I study in Seoul for 2 months.

unfinished remixes
Here's a couple of unfinished remixes, dunno when I will get around to finishing them so I thought I would post them now. This was more of a practice exercise, just to get used to working with an acappella. Both the artists featured can be found on Strange Famous Records.
Not brilliant, but it taught me a few things (fades, working with vocals).

playing with animation in photoshop
Here's a low quality version of a piece of animation I have just completed in photoshop.
It is based on a childhood memory of mine.
When I was younger, my family and I were travelling back from our holiday,
when somebody walked out in front of us on the motorway to kill herself.
The piece was only allowed to be between 20 and 30 secs.
There is more to this story, but I don't really feel like sharing it.
There is also audio to go with this that I made, but it's not on this version.
LOW END THEORY PODCASTS

There are a few podcasts up from the LA Club Low End Theory.
(psychedelic, glitch avant-rap, IDM, dubstep and more)
The club has probably the best line up of residents I have seen:
D-Styles, Gaslamp Killer, Nobody and Daddy Kev!!!!!
Haven't got around to listening to 'em all yet,
but the D-Styles one is coow (as you would expect from d)
mp3 links:
Dunno how long they will stay up for so grab 'em while you can
a few more tracks

This is what I don't look like!
Here's a few more tracks that I made in May.
As usual none of the tracks on here are mastered yet.
Some of these are unfinished too, but I thought i would still share them.
They are pretty much all MIDI produced with a touch of vinyl here and there and a few samples:
suckaz like you samples a film, any guesses?

Things for the future of this blog
Well as it's hand in time,
I will tell you my plans for the future of this blog
and also what I have been reading/watching/listening to
whilst doing this.
As I have mentioned earlier in this blog
I listen to a vast amount of music,
I'll give you a few things now and do a bigger, more involved list later (links, vids, info etc)
Various Steve Reich (different trains, music for 18 musicians)
currently reading his Writings on Music (1965-2000)
Nobukazu Takemura - Child's View
The Glitch Mob
various Omar Rodriguez-Lopez
BBC Radiophonic Workshop (watching videos, collecting vinyl and listening)
Polar Bear
E.S.T.
Fela Kuti
The New Earth Group
and a hell of a lot more!
The future of this Blog
I am going to keep on PLAYing with this project
I think it has been a good way of learning a variety of things
rather than just falling in to a comfort zone and doing the same thing
I will keep documenting the process
and I will invite more people to PLAY with this idea.
A friend of mine is going to be learning Ableton soon
and is keen to use this as a playful learning tool
so I will also be adding that to this Blog.
I also aim to start making videos in the same way
so I will be posting my results as I start to learn After Effects.
I will also add jams with theplaydoeband to this blog,
although it is not making music to the rules of this project
it's a good example of improvised play
I feel I have learnt a lot from this project
writing what I have done along the way
in a sketchbook has been a useful tool for remembering new techniques
just don't buy a huge book like I did!
